Dave solo album! Dave is currently working on a follow-up to the critically acclaimed "Paper Monsters". He is hopeful to have the album released (tentatively) in October, 2007. We will have further updates on the solo album in the coming weeks, on the soon-to-be-relaunched Dave Gahan dot com.

Свершилось! Дэйв Гаан записал свой второй сольный альбом и дал ему название
"Hourglass", т.е. "Песочные часы", и планирует его выпустить уже в конце
Октября этого года!
Mute Records распространила пресс-релиз, в котором раскрывает некоторые
детали нового альбома Дэйва. Мы постарались как можно скорее донести эту
информацию до вас и ниже приводим перевод этого пресс-релиза.
Фронтмен группы Depeche Mode Дэйв Гаан выпустит свой второй сольный альбом
"Hourglass" в конце Октября 2007 года(точная дата будет объявлена позже).
Этот релиз Mute Records - продолжение его сольного творчества, которое
началось с альбома Paper Monsters в 2003 году. Дебют показал Дэйва как
вполне оперившегося поэта-песенника. Диск заслужил одобрение и признание по
всему миру (журнал Q даже назвал Paper Monsters одним из 50 лучших альбомов
2003 года), и породил успешные туры по США и Европе (в турне был снят DVD с
одним из концертов и выпущен под названием Live Monsters).
Рост Дэйва Гаана, как автора песен, был продемонстрирован на альбоме Depeche
Mode "Playing The Angel" в 2005 году. Это был первый альбом группы, который
бы включал в себя песни Дэйва: три трека, включая сингл "Suffer Well." Два
миллиона проданных копий альбома по всему миру, первое место в чартах 18

The inimitable Dave Gahan makes a dynamic return on 22nd October with 'Hourglass' - his eagerly awaited second solo album. Best known as the iconic frontman of Depeche Mode, he continues his impressive career with a blazing new side-project, which follows his critically acclaimed solo debut 'Paper Monsters'.
Produced by Dave with Christian Eigner & Andrew Phillpott, both members of the Depeche Mode touring band, 'Hourglass' also reflects Gahan's growth as a songwriter. Initially showcased with 2003's 'Paper Monsters', he later wrote 3 stellar tracks for Depeche Mode's recent 2 million selling 'Playing The Angel' - 'I Want It All', 'Suffer Well' & 'Nothing's Impossible'.
Hourglass highlights include the gospel-tinged 'Saw Something', which kick-starts the album with stealth before effortlessly setting the tone for the other 9 tracks. "That was the catalyst that started the idea to write again," Dave recalls, adding that is was also "the first lyric, and the key to open the door to thinking, 'Okay, I can go here.'"
Other standout moments include the exhilarating, tour de force roar of 'Deeper and Deeper', the soaring epic first single 'Kingdom' (out on 8th October) and the addictive pull of 'Use You', where he scathingly lets loose his disgust with people, and specifically, himself. Meanwhile, on 'Down' - perhaps the most confessional song on the record - he confesses "I feel so old, down on the ground is where I'm bound to end up."
Sonically, the record cuts across a range of influences and styles with grace. Decidedly more electronic than his previous solo work, he has seamlessly swapped the guitar of 'Paper Monsters' for the synthesizer he epitomizes so well.
"It doesn't feel so much that the band is my identity anymore, although I owe everything to it. I'm starting to really feel that I have my own voice, and it's definitely coming out in the songs. For me, it's the best possible record I could make at this time. And it's gone well beyond what I expected of myself."

"Хочу предупредить: мои впечатления основаны на однократном прослушивани. Я слышал каждую песню всего по одному разу. Так что примите это как данность. Оставляю за собой право свое мнение поменять.
Итак, в пресс-релизе упоминалось 11 треков...
На альбомной версии представлены следующие треки: "Saw Something," "Use You," "Endless," "21 Days," "A Little Lie," "Deeper and Deeper," "Love Will Leave," "Down," "Miracles," "Tomorrow" и "Kingdom."
Версия, которую прослушивал я, содержала всего 10 треков. Куда делся 11-тый трек, я не знаю. Может он не был включен по ошибке, может его убрали с альбома, чтобы он присутствовал как би-сайд на сингле. Я не знаю.
Я также не знаю, будет ли порядок песен на альбоме тот же, как тот порядок, в котором прослушивал я. В любом случае, то в каком порядке это слышал я, оставило приятное впечатление.
Трек-лист того, что я слышал:

Как вы наверное заметили, в трек-листе отсутствуют "Love Will Leave" и "Tomorrow" - обе они были упомянуты в пресс-релизе. Мне кажется, что один из них был убран с альбома, другой был переименован в "Insoluble". Если бы я прислушивался к словам в песнях более внимательно, то мог бы понять какой именно трек им стал.
Итак начнем:
Разрешите сообщить, что альбом не то чтобы "немного более электронный"(как упоминалось ранее в анносах) чем "Paper Monsters". Он НАМНОГО БОЛЕЕ ЭЛЕКТРОННЫЙ! И более резкий тоже. Те, кто слышал сольный альбом Айгнера (Eigner) безусловно услышат его влияние на эту запись. Он безусловно приложил свою руку к этому.
Первая песня "Saw Something", потрясла меня своей атмосферностью. Она отлично задает темп и замечательно вводит в альбом.
"Kingdom" чисто Айгнеровский трек с вокалом Дейва. Хороший трек... "In your infinite wisdom / You show me how this life should be"... намек на презрение в голосе Дейва в этой задумчивой, темной, ритмичной композиции. Отличный выбор для первого сингла.
"Deeper & Deeper" напомнил мне Bj?rk местами. Искаженный вокал, интро в стиле Basement Jaxx интро, жесткое программирование, резкий звук. "I'm going down now / deeper and deeper / under you skin / you know that it's right". Слова отражают характер песни тоже... Она пробирает до самых костей и это замечательно!
"21 Days" мог бы быть современным римейком песни DM "Pipeline". Медленная, с неровным битом и шумной, местами безумной гитарой и вокалом в стиле госпел. В эту песню надо вслушиваться, чтобы по-настоящему проникнуться ей. Это былобы замечательно. По-настоящему интересно.
"Miracles" - первая вещь, которая вызвала сомнение. "I don't believe in miracles / They happen every day / I don't believe in Jesus / But I pray anyway" поет Дейв, первое, что пришло в голову, это какое-то неуместное занудство.
"Use You" - это пробуждающий трек, и более чем восполняет те пару минут (предыдущий трек), которые вы потратили впустую. Сухой, искаженный вокал, брошенный в лицо, несколько агрессивных фраз, были мной записаны. Песня имеет большую энергетику. Мне она действительно понравилась!
"Insoluble" - это песня, про которую я подумал, что она "Love Will Leave", местами это еще один трек трудный к прослушиванию с первого раза. Для меня она звучала так, как будто она взята с альбома "Exciter"... что-то типа "Comatose" часть 2. Я знаю, что это напугает некоторых из вас. Медленный трек, далеко не скучный.... не медлите с повторным прослушиванием его, когда будете слушать альбом!
"Endless" первая песня, слова на которой, как я заметил, или даже не слова, а их подача, из мира альбома "Paper Monsters". В первую минуту слова показались весьма неуклюжими, но не совсем уж плохими. Трек - ОЧЕНЬ клубный, так и просится в ремиксы... причем в жесткие ремиксы! Еще одна компаозиция, как я думаю, которая вырастет в моих глазах после повторного прослушивания, когда пройдет время.
"A Little Lie" - это вероятно самая тяжело воспринимаемая песня. Еще один одна нарастающая. Куча электронных звуков, вплетующихся друг в друга. Начинается весьма минималистично и заканчивается грандиозно. Очень эмоционально.
По некторым причинам, единственное определение, которое пришло в голову о песне "Down" - это "мрачно", если честно, то я даже не помню почему. Она просто не запомнилась мне. Я не говорю, что это плохая песня. Но мне кажется я немного отвлекся, прослушивая ее.
В любом случае, я с нетерпением жду этого альбома. Большой шаг вперед после "Paper Monsters", некоторым образом - смелая запись; первое, что я подумал, что местами даже даст некоторую фору работе Мартина Гора.
Эта запись далека от гаражного рока "Paper Monsters", и, я думаю, это благодаря записи "Playing The Angel" за плечами.

ага)) прслушано 2 раза.
нравится 80%. скоро дойдем до 100)) альбом не хуже Монстров, и может даже лучше.
вчера еще купила мп3 мартина с 3 лайфами и синглами.

Fryars have got Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan to sing on debut album 'Dark Young Hearts' after a chance studio encounter.
Speaking to NME.COM, Ben Garrett explained that the veteran has contributed vocals to a track called 'Visitor', after walking in while producer and ex-Clor guitarist Luke Smith was working on the song in his New York studio.
"Basically, Luke was doing stuff with Ben Hillier on Depeche Mode's album and Dave came in while they were on down time, heard my music and really loved it and asked to sing on it," Garrett explained. "I'm really excited about it, and when I go over to America we might even do something live together."
The track is set to be made available as a download on myspace.com/fryars ahead of the album's release next year.
